There are a couple of tricks to try, and they include:

How to Stop Blocked Numbers Leaving Voicemail on Android [Easy Guide] (1)

Method 1: Third-party Tool

There are several third-party apps that you can use. I've run through some of the best below.

Option 1. Google Voice

From all the apps you could use, Google Voice is the most popular. It marks blocked voicemails as spam, so you'll never have to worry about them again. Some Androids come with Google Voice pre-installed, which is a plus.

Here are the steps you need to follow:

Step 1:

  • Open Google Voice
  • Go to Messages, Calls, or Voicemail and select the cell phone number that you want to block
  • Once the caller details open up, click the More button (the three vertical dots on the screen)
  • Tap the Block Number option
  • Click Block again

Step 2:

  • Go to the Google Voice app
  • Tap the Menu option (the three horizontal lines on the left hand corner)
  • Select Security
  • Tap the Filter-spam feature on (it should turn blue)

Option 2: CallApp

Right after Google Voice, the second most popular option would be the CallApp. Not only can you use the phone app to stop blocked numbers from leaving voicemails, but it also has a bunch of other call barring features.

Here's how you use it:

  • Look for the CallApp from the Play Store and download it
  • You will get a request, asking you to make the application your default calling app. Confirm this
  • Grant the application the permissions that it requires
  • Register and set up your account. You will receive a confirmation SMS once your account has been made
  • You should see a screen with all the features that the program offers
  • Go to the Spam and Block List option
  • Click on the Spam symbol on the bottom

Now, whenever a blocked number leaves a voicemail, it will be redirected to the app's spam list.

Option 3: Calls Blacklist

The Calls Blacklist app is an excellent choice. You can either use its premium version, or go for the free one.

Here’s how you use it:

  • Go to the Google Play Store
  • Download the Calls Blacklist app
  • You will be asked to make the application your default caller. Confirm this
  • Set it up as your default SMS app as well
  • Go back to the app home screen and swipe down to access the Blacklist option
  • Tap the plus icon
  • You will see a pop-up menu appear with a list of options
  • Choose the voicemail message feature, and enter the number to block
  • Tap the check mark icon to save

Option 4: Call Control

Most users will know about the Call Control app. It's popular and is an excellent choice.

Let me run through how it works - whenever a blocked number calls you, your phone rings, and the voicemail prompt appears when you don't pick up. The Call Control app terminates the call quickly, and the other person won't have the chance to leave a voice message.

Option 5: No More Voicemail

Although you can use No More Voicemail Box, know that it malfunctions and adds random numbers into the blocked voicemail list. You should be able to work around this by correctly configuring the app, though.

Method 2: Contact Your Service Provider

If you don't want to use third-party tools, you can contact your service provider for help. Ask them to disable your phone's voice mail. Just keep in mind that once it's done, no one can send you voicemails.

Blocked callers do this by hiding their caller ID before attempting to call you. A lot of third-party apps help users do this.

  • Go to the Google Play Store and download the Truecaller app
  • Launch it and tap on the Menu button

What is the Best Spam Call Blocker for Android?

There are several apps to block unwanted calls, and I've run through 2 of them.

Option 1: Truecaller

I mentioned Truecaller earlier, but know that you can also use it as an anti spam call tool. I've used it a couple of times, and know several users who have done so as well. It will also let you know who the caller is, even if they've hidden their caller ID, which is a plus.

Also, there are additional features, like seeing who viewed your profile. However, you can only access this feature if you're paying for premium. If you're going for the free version, ads will be an issue.

Here's how you use it to block spam calls:

  • Download the app and then launch it
  • Tap on Phone
  • Click on Call blocking & Identification
  • Toggle Truecaller

Option 2: YouMail

Right after Truecaller, YouMail is the best choice to block spam calls and robocalls. There is a premium version too, if you're interested. Both iOS and Android users will be able to use it.

If you go for the premium option, you will get access to the following:

  • Call routing as well as an auto-attendant
  • Automatic text messaging
  • Conference calls as well as automatic call recordings
  • Ability to send voicemails to a second number of your choice

To block spam calls, all you need to do is go to the YouMail website, register your phone number, and download the tool from the Google Playstore.

How Do I Allow Only Certain Calls On My Android?

Figuring out how to only allow certain calls to come in is great if you don't want to get distracted. To do this, you don't have to use any apps from the Google play store. You will just have to reconfigure your Do Not Disturb settings.

Here's what you do:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap on the Do Not Disturb menu
  • Click on the More Settings option, and select Priority Only Allows
  • Tap on Calls

Now, only numbers that are starred can call you. In case you're not aware, here is how you star numbers:

  • Open the Contacts app
  • Scroll down until you find the contact that you want to make a favorite
  • Tap on it
  • Click on the Favorite option on the top-right corner

How Do You Enable Call Forwarding?

Instead of blocking calls, you can forward them to another number.

Here's what you do:

  • Open the Phone app
  • Tap the three-dot icon on top
  • Click on Settings
  • Go to Settings and click on Calls
  • Tap Call Forwarding

Final Thoughts

There are several ways to stop blocked numbers from leaving voicemails. You can either use apps from the Play Store, or contact your service provider for help. If you're going the latter route, know that your voicemail would be completely disabled.

To cover all bases, I have also discussed how you can block calls and provided the names of apps that will help you block suspected spam calls.

Hopefully, you found all the points discussed useful. They will work regardless of what your Android phone model is.
