Well, 2023 turned out to be a great year. I was able to accomplish my goal of completing my dual degree at California State University, Long Beach in Aerospace Engineering and Physics. In addition to this, my efforts at Divergent has begun showing it fruit as I was recently promoted to Senior Quality Engineer. A special thanks to Kevin Choi for being an incredible Director through all the challenges we face.

Well this month keeps on getting better and better. I did dual bachelor degrees at CSULB, why not dual Masters? I'll be starting at California State University-Dominguez Hills in the Fall of this year. Looking forward to expanding my knowledge in the quality field! Also, thank you to my wife Elicia Ybarra for your incredible patience. Nothing is possible without your support!

I hope everyone had an amazing holiday and is ready to have an fantastic start to the New Year. As my undergraduate studies came to a close this semester, one of the major milestones was the completion of my senior design project; and the presentation of our Critical Design Review to our professor and the review board. Our project was to design a satellite that could seek out, rendezvous, attach, and de-orbit up to three satellites in various orbits. This project involved six presentations over the course of two semesters. Starting with an initial project proposal and ending with CDR. The course is designed to expose students to the NASA mission project life cycle. I wanted to take a moment and give a proper thanks to my team that I have worked with over this past year on this project. It has been countless hours of meetings, research, CAD modeling, and everything else it took to get this project to completion. Rayza Z. is our propulsion lead. She designed the propulsion system and determined everything from fuel type, thruster configuration, feed schematics, pressurization methods, etc. All of which would allow the spacecraft to maintain 6 degrees of freedom control for close-quarter maneuvers with target spacecraft as well as delta-V burns to reach different orbits. Cristian Chavez is our power system lead. He calculated the power that would be required based on the sum of the subsystems onboard (with safety factor of course). The solar panels quantity and placement along with the power distribution system to each subsystem was all designed by Cristian. Dustin Nguyen is our heat transfer lead. He designed the thermal management system for the spacecraft. This would allow the spacecraft to maintain acceptable temperatures as it was exposed to solar radiation, and the heat generated from onboard electronics. This system was also responsible for maintaining an acceptable temperature range for the onboard fuel tanks for the propulsion system. Pamela Claire Santos is our telecommunications lead. She designed the communications system to allow the spacecraft to maintain communication with mission control. This allows the spacecraft to receive and transmit instructions and mission status. I am truly grateful to have had such a great team. Thank you all. GO TEAM HONEYBADGER!!

Yesterday I got the news that my final grade had posted to my student account at CSULB. This means that while I wait for my degree to arrive and the paperwork to be official, I can celebrate knowing that the educational goal of obtaining a degree in Aerospace Engineering B.S AND Physics B.A is complete. For those close to me, you understand the importance of this milestone in my education. This has been over 10 years in the works. A couple A.A. degrees along the way, an enlistment in the Marines, starting a family and a career in the aerospace industry has made the journey an interesting one. It definitely wasn't easy but it was worth the sleepless nights and early mornings, the stress of finals time and time again, and the incredibly complex material to learn. I am so very thankful to my wife who supported me every step of the way, to my family that always believed in me and to all my friends that became family along the way. Those green check marks are a symbol of the end of my undergraduate career. The future holds some exciting things!
