Eggs area really simple to cook. We have shared9 of our favourite recipes for cooking breakfast eggs in your thermo mixer. But first,we would like to share a family story with you.
Chrystalla's Story
For me, eggs are a very special breakfast dish because they remind me of my Grandfather.
My Grandparents live down the road from me and I help Yiayia (Grandma) to look after papou (Grandad). He has Alzheimers.
Every morning I take them somewhere for breakfast. Well, I used to. Unfortunately our morning outings have recently stopped. My Grandpa's disease escalated rapidly and he was admitted to hospital.
Life changed very quickly from going out for breakfast every morning to feeding my Grandpa every meal. It is heartbreaking to watch.
It saddens me deeply, especially when my children notice his absence. Ifwe visit my Grandma's house, my 3-year-old son will run around the room looking for our Grandpa. Or whenmy Grandma get's into the car and my papou is missing, my son will ask: “where's papou? Does papou have a mimi (sore)?”.
When we were little, my grandparents would come over and cook us bacon andeggs on Sunday mornings. It was like having our own personal restaurant! My grandparents wouldwakeup early and cook the bacon from about 4am. They kept it in the oven to stay warm until we woke up. One by one, as we each got out of bed, my Grandparents would cook us eggs for breakfast. We each placed our own “orders” and our breakfast would be cooked‘to order'so that we could choose what we wanted to eat. If we asked for toast or fried halloumi or tomato, they would be cooked to order. If we wanted our eggs boiled, scrambled or fried we would get it. If we preferred soft yolk or hard yolk then that is how our eggs were cooked.
Our Grandparents spoilt us with love and really memorable Sunday morning breakfasts.
